Episode Transcription

Hello! Welcome! I am Dr. Michelle Barr, and this is Spirit, Strategy, and Soul. Today, I want to continue in this series of It’s Yours Now, which is based on my last book, Loving What’s Next: What You Want Can Be Yours Now, so that’s a great resource for you. I want to talk today about: are you open to begin your journey to your next?

Once you create an awareness of what your mind is going to be doing as you reconnect with your desires and you start moving forward toward your desired next-level life, you can consciously create from a place of clarity and focus. That is why we step into all these different pieces to bring it all together. There are some very basic laws, universal laws, and spiritual principles we operate under, but then there are a lot of nuances and subtleties. Over the last few years, I’ve been really tweaking those and testing them on myself and my own life, and learning from my clients and students.

I want to remind you that you are a powerful creator, and you are creating 24-7. It’s on a continuum. At any time you are unconsciously creating, consciously creating, and everything in between. So your first goal is not either “I can’t do it,” “it doesn’t work for me,” or “wow, it’s gonna be perfect.” It is how much of the time in any day can you be consciously creating versus unconsciously creating. And when you are unconsciously creating, how can you recognize it and intervene with yourself? Give yourself an inner vision—intervention, stopping thoughts, shifting your feelings and emotions, changing your stories, whatever is becoming emotionally charged the most and triggered.

Energy in motion will dominate and will create, so you have to learn to manage your state of being. Step one is trust your desires. Before you do any of this, you want to get clear and focused on what you actually want to create. What muddies it up is what do I think I can have, what can’t I have, should I not have, what will make other people uncomfortable or angry, what can I get away with and what can I not, what’s for not right now—all of those things.

Because if you have a desire, a way has already been made. When you have a desire, a way has already been made. And there is always a step forward from wherever you now stand. This is really about trusting your desires, what you truly desire, and they are not out of reach, they are not unreasonable, and they are not selfish or any of those things. Your true desires are waiting for you, and they may need some excavating. Very likely they’ve been buried under “not yet,” “not now,” “all signs point to no,” “it just wasn’t meant to be,” along with other people’s wants, needs, and expectations of you and for you.

Know this. Your changing is going to be highly inconvenient and uncomfortable for some people in your life. And Spirit wants for you what you want for yourself. Spirit created you to be a creator, and Spirit gave you free will. It’s all here for you. You have to choose it. That’s the M in my M-O-V-E: make a decision. You have to choose it, and you have to choose to be the person—which involves becoming the person who can be it, do it, and have it.

It is universal law. If you have a desire, then a way has been made. It already exists. Start here. Trust this. The journey you are on involves a trust journey times three—I call it a trust times three journey—learning to trust Spirit, trust yourself, and trust the process. Can you trust right now that if you have a desire, a way exists?

From this place, you can open up to the opportunities that show up when you ask. They are there. They start appearing the moment you ask. The problem is you can’t always see them because they often appear uncomfortable, inconvenient, illogical, even expensive. And you have to step in and say yes and follow the breadcrumbs. First, you have to recognize them when they show up. Sometimes you’re blocking them because you don’t want to see them, or you can’t see them because your beliefs won’t allow it.

So do this right now. Make a clear ask to the universe. Don’t start with something that is the biggest, most triggering thing. Make a clear ask to the universe—one ask—and don’t wrap a bunch of other things into it. Especially do not include what other people have to do or who they have to be for it to come true. You leave the how to the universe. That is the universe’s job.

Make a clear ask to the universe. Become hyper-alert, watching for the opportunities. Say yes and step in. Follow the breadcrumbs. When a desire enters your heart, a way has already been made. The universe will rush in to guide and support you. You have to take the first step, always. We have free will, and Spirit will not impose on your free will.

Dare to desire out loud. Here’s something you can do. Set aside some time to do this, and you can even come back to this recording to walk you through it. Grab a beautiful journal and pen or a simple spiral notebook and start putting your desires on paper. I know we are a technologically fueled age and we have all the devices, and I love writing on a computer more than anything, so do what works best for you. But there is scientific proof that writing things down when manifesting your desires and when working on your beliefs, thoughts, and emotions creates results through a brain connection that isn’t as proven using other methods. So give it a try.

Every day for five minutes, visit your vision. Visit your vision. I call this my visioning tool. I’m tripping over some of my words because the energy is coming through to impart this to you, and there’s so much at once. So I pause, I take a breath, I slow down. My visioning tool—five minutes a day for thirty days—and watch what happens. Magic.

Every day for five minutes, visit your vision and write down things you are aware that you desire. Let them bubble up and let them surprise you. This is not an exercise for your mind. Your mind can go take a nap or give it something else to do. Write them all into being—the very big and the very small. Watch as your desires grow clearer and as they shift and change as you work with them. It’s okay to change your focus as you fully enter into the process.

Stop yourself from trying to control the hows and from any negative self-talk that comes in while you are working with your desires. It’s all valuable feedback for you to work with. Write it down somewhere else so you can work with it, but not in your desire guide.

One version of this is known as scripting. Using scripting, you write it all out as narrative in the present tense, as if you’ve sat down with a friend for coffee or lunch that you hadn’t seen in a while and wanted to catch her up on your whole life—your amazing life. You would speak with feeling, you would be animated, you would paint a picture for her, and you would leave nothing wonderful out. Talk and write about the being, the doing, and the having in this now moment as if it is already yours.

I used a form of scripting often in my early days of creating the first version of my business and the life I desired by speaking it. I had a long driveway, about a quarter of a mile, to the mailbox, and I would walk it with my dogs up and back, and I would tell them out loud all the things I was so happy about that had shown up in my life. Also, when I was driving, I would talk to myself out loud. Whenever a thought would come in that was negating all the great things that were on their way to me and already mine, I would speak what I desired into being, telling my mind what is.

It is universal law. Whatever you say is. Yes, the stories you tell are a powerful tool in how all this goes, and you will hear more about that if you continue to follow me.

Write your desires in your book for five minutes every day for thirty days, as I said, and watch what happens. And as your desires are manifested, check them off in your book. What’s amazing is when I’d get to the end of a year—you don’t have to do this only in January, you can start anytime—I would reflect and go through it. I could see the things I accomplished, that I manifested, that I created, and I could see the things I hadn’t. And it made everything in that year make sense, because Spirit is always working in your favor, and the universe is organizing it all as a match to you.

It would show me directly why certain things happened and didn’t happen, what I received and what I didn’t, and then you feel and see the power you have to do this. You can do this. It is not a random universe. It will all make sense.

It is important that you make your ask and turn it over to the universe. Some things will show up very fast because you are a clear match to them. Other desires will be taking form as you work with them. Some of my desires have shown up much later than I expected and turned out to be right on time. The universe remembers all your desires and delivers them to you when you are a match to them.

Another version of this is a God jar. I have used this also. With a God jar, I wrote my desires on strips of paper, put them in a jar, sealed it up, and left them alone. It was wonderful in those years when I was still building my belief to see, at the end of the year, when I opened the jar and read through them, all that had come into my life that I desired and may have even forgotten I had asked for. I was also able to see that many of the things that happened during that time that I perceived as difficult, challenging, and even painful were all a part of helping me become a match to my desire so it could reach me.

You are combining the two main tools I have given you. You are creating a vision of the life you want to live, and you are writing down all the desires that you are aware of that are part of that complete vision in life. At first, I tell you to spend five minutes with each of these tools every day for thirty days.

When you begin working with these tools and actively creating the life you want to live, you are learning so much. You’re becoming aware of so many things and applying new ideas, new perspectives, new techniques, and tools to help you apply them in your daily life and become a part of your daily practice—your spiritual practice.

My desire is for you to move to a place, with my help in teaching you this, where it becomes a way of living and being rather than just tools you use. That is a process. You are a work in progress. I am a work in progress. You can learn to live in this more than not, and things will come to you with so much more grace and ease.

Right now, give yourself grace as you learn, grow, and evolve. My mantra always includes: I don’t need hard lessons anymore. Show me with grace and ease. I match that in my vibration. I open instead of constricting. I come to it not with fear, but with excitement and enthusiasm and anticipation and a willingness to look at all of it and shift what no longer serves me. At one time it did. At one time it could have saved my life. They are survival coping defense mechanisms, but I no longer need them, and my body and brain just don’t know that yet.

This is the work, and it will work you. As you move through it all, it will work for you.

I ask you again: are you open to begin your journey to your next? To say, “I am moving forward right now. I am choosing. I am shifting. I am transforming. It’s mine now. What I want can be mine now,” and get excited about your what’s next while also working on wherever you are so you don’t create or miscreate out of a state of scarcity or lack.

This creating an awareness happens over time also. You learn, you grow, and you evolve. Where does it start? Reconnecting with your desires and making that choice point in every moment to move toward rather than away from what you desire in the next level of your life.

It’s right there. There’s no timeframe or time limit. Divine right timing does come in because of a lot of the things we’re creating, especially if we try to get too specific. The more you can leave the hows to the universe, things come to you much easier and much better. You’re going to stumble along in the beginning, maybe. You’re going to try to have too much control. But it’s a tapestry that’s being woven from a very high vantage point.

Some things have to happen energetically before other things do, especially when it involves other people and other circumstances. You keep being clear and focused and grounded and centered, and learn to bring yourself back to that place. Instead of saying, “See, it never works for me,” “it only works for other people,” “I can’t have it,” “what’s wrong with me?”—you hold it. And that becomes your work.

Holding the frequency and the vibration and matching it every day, and then doing all the things you do. Movement is a big one for me. I do conscious dance. I love conscious dance. I move—sacred movement—and then I am still—sacred stillness. I meditate. I have brain entrainment things that I listen to. I have tools.

Between moving and sitting in stillness, you find your center. You protect your energy. You change your state of being. Then everything happens so much faster, so much better, so much more. You’ll learn as you go. Things that seem so challenging, down the road you’ll go, “Wow, that was all in my mind.” And look how much it comes to me now with grace and ease.

Some things you’ll say no longer serve me. I don’t desire that anymore. New desires will come up. Some of them will feel so big, maybe insurmountable, and you’ll get back into those feelings—and then you do it all over again. And it gets smoother and smoother and smoother.

Begin your journey now. You choose. You make a decision. You own it one hundred percent. You vision it. You work on your state of being. You become a match to the frequency and vibration, and then you execute it—the E in M.O.V.E. That is where you take inspired, aligned action.

That’s one of the main things I’ve talked about for years, because when my coaches would ask me what keeps you up at night, I would say: too many people never take any action toward what they say they want most, and then they wonder why they don’t have it.

Step one: are you ready? Are you open? Begin. Meet yourself. Meet these tools. Meet all of it wherever you are. Trust your desires. Tap into your desires. Get clear. Get focused. Then come back to this—come back to this podcast and this current series, It’s Yours Now.
